Who we are

Planning Commissioners are citizens of Greenbrier County, representing business, agriculture, industry and labor. They are appointed by the County Commission for three year terms. One member of the County Commission also serves on the Planning Commission.

The Planning Commission is regulated by state code and county ordinance. Regular meetings are usually on the fourth Wednesday of the month at the courthouse; the public is always welcome. Those desiring to speak at a meeting are asked to contact a Commissioner so that they can be included on the agenda.

What we do

The Greenbrier County Planning Commission is an advisory body to the Greenbrier County Commission. The Planning Commission will contribute to the development of zoning ordinances, subdivision ordinances, floodplain ordinances and other land use regulations.

Incorporated areas of the county, such as Lewisburg, White Sulphur Springs and Rainelle, may create their own Planning Commissions and ordinances or designate the county Planning Commission to act on their behalf.
